Many people do routine maintenance around their house every week. They take out the trash, mow the lawn, and sweep the floor. People even maintain their hygiene (hopefully) by bathing, brushing teeth, cutting hair, and so on. Has it ever occurred to you that you should do maintenance to your health?
Just like you would maintain your house, or your yard, or your appearance; you should actively maintain your health too. Your body is like a machine, a highly complex machine that can heal and repair itself, however, even though it can heal itself, the human body needs maintenance to be healthy. For example: in order to function properly, your body needs certain nutrients: protein for muscles, carbohydrates for energy, and vitamins and minerals to keep everything working correctly. Without proper nutrition, you body will break down and become sick.
Did you also know that your spine also needs maintenance in order to stay healthy? Your spine is made up of 24 bones called vertebrae that protect the spinal cord. The spinal cord contains almost every nerve in your body. When a vertebrae becomes misaligned, it compresses nerves. Those nerves send messages from the brain to all the different parts of the body. Without nerves, those body parts would not stay healthy. It is very important to keep those vertebrae in you spine properly aligned so that you can maintain the health of your nerves and your body.
